MERROW Foundation was founded in 2016 by Janelle Fleming and Jason Fleming as a call to action for the Ocean Environment here in Carteret County and beyond. This non-profit is growing from the humble desire to work with citizen scientists both young and old that are interested and willing to help improve and study the ocean environment. MERROW’s Board of Directors are a combination of marine scientists, engineers, consultants, and educators.
The directors have a combined 60 years of experience in Marine research and education.

We are a 501c3 focused on Marine Education, Research, and Resilience for the Oceans Worldwide.
VISION STATEMENT:
We seek to understand and promote educational and scientific research that benefits the oceans and the organisms that use them by providing experiential education for all.
MISSION STATEMENT:
We seek to promote inclusive education about the oceans through the application of sound science with hands-on educational outreach and experiential research projects for scientists, citizen-scientists, and non-scientists alike.
